Born in England, Martins early musical influences were the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds and many skiffle artists of the time. In 1967 Martin’s parents emigrated the family to the United States which then exposed Martin to “Motown” and the emerging rock scene.

As a teenager, Martin began doing handy work with his father who always played the “easy listening” station on the radio.  This was Martin’s first exposure to standards and show tunes. Martin heard the melodies of Richard Rogers, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen and the Gershwins to name a few. This proved to be an invaluable learning tool for Martin’s future profession.

After high school, Martin attended Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA. The winters never agreed with Martin and so he then moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. and started working for music offices that needed a guitar player who could play both rock and standards.

Martin has had an interesting and fulfilling journey and is looking forward to future opportunities and challenges.
